Brian Grinder
Eastern Washington University


Brian Grinder teaches finance at Eastern Washington University. Brian joined the EWU faculty in September of 1992. Prior to this, he taught at Washington State University in Pullman, WA, and Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS.

Brian was the recipient along with his colleagure and coauthor, Dr. Dan Cooper, of the Financial Management Association 1995 Innovations in Teaching Finance Award. Brian was also the recipient of the 1996 College of Business and Public Administration’s Research Excellence Award as well as the Department of Management’s 1996 Teaching Excellence Award

Brian holds a doctorate in Business - Finance from Washington State University, an MBA from Fort Hays State University, and an MA in History from Fort Hays State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Big Sky Bible College.

Brian has published in the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Financial Practice and Education, Financial Management Collections, and the Museum of American Financial History's quarterly publication Friends of Financial History.

Brian is an active member in the Financial Management Association (FMA), and is a reviewer for the FMA’s Financial Practice and Education journal. He has presented several papers at the FMA’s annual meetings. His interest in history has lead to a relationship with the Museum of American Financial History where he cowrites the quarterly Educator's Perspective column for the museum's Friends of Financial History.

Brian resides in Cheney, WA along with his wife Joyce and their two children Paul (age 5) and Mara (age 3). The family enjoys all kinds of outdoor activity including camping, gardening, and playing in the park.
