Thomas Russell is Professor of Advertising and Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. Tom received his Ph.D. in communications from the University of Illinois and has taught and conducted research in a number of areas of advertising and marketing. He was formerly editor of the Journal of Advertising and is the author of numerous articles and research papers in both academic and trade publications.
In addition to his academic endeavors, Tom has worked as a retail copywriter as well as principal in his own advertising agency. He is a member of a number of academic and professional organizations including the American Academy of Advertising, American Advertising Federation, and the Arthur W. Page Society. He has also served as a judge and faculty member for the Institute of Advanced Advertising Studies sponsored by the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
