  Applied Derivatives Trading is an online monthly magazine devoted to derivatives trading. Each issue contains a number of interesting articles, book reviews, and market reports. Back issues are available to April 1996. An extensive glossary is available to explain any unfamiliar terms. The glossary terms are conveniently linked to one another so that if an unfamiliar word appears in a definition, a click of the button is all that is needed to clarify it.   FinanceWise describes itself as a finance search engine that filters out all the other information on the Internet in order to bring finance-only content to its users. The problem with this is that the filters seem to be rather narrowly constructed since search results tend to be heavily weighted towards the web sites of banks and other financial institutions. Nevertheless, FinanceWise is an interesting idea that will hopefully evolve into a powerful search tool for students of finance. (Registration is optional and free.)

  MEK Securities is the first broker-dealer to gain NASD approval to communicate completely electronically with its customers, including the acceptance of digital signatures and consents ("sigNETures") on required documents. One of the innovative approaches you will find on this site is the effort to give individual investors the same market clout as institutional investors. MEK does this in two ways : 1) Team Investing, they try to create institutional economies-of-scale by allowing customers to discuss with other customers what stock or bond to buy, then they pool their money and make one large purchase, then split up the securities. MEK allows the savings in execution costs and the benefits of a better price to flow to its customers. 2) Customer-to-Customer Trading, customers negotiate a trade directly with another MEK customer, then let MEK take care of the payments and other execution details. MEK recognizes that the customer did all the work to get the best price so they are charged a low execution fee.
